What to Expect
Schedule:
You have applied for and accepted a position at Allen Marine Tours! We are quite busy all summer long so that means you are expected to work holidays & weekends. Schedules are published in advance; however, tour demand and cruise schedules occasionally change at the last minute. We ask our employees to be flexible as things can change!
Time Off:
We offer seasonal employees two days of paid time off per season. Those not working a full season will receive a prorated amount of leave based on their availability.
Uniform/Attire:
For many of our positions, we provide uniform tops, jackets & hats. We have other uniform options available for purchase such as vests, fleece jackets and beanies. You will be required to provide pants and footwear. We require black uniform pants in a Dockers or Dickies style. We also allow black Carhartt pants. No leggings, work out pants, etc. Should you desire, you can also include a pair of black rain pants in your uniform repertoire. Footwear should be close-toed and non-skid. Many mariners wear Xtratuf’s. There are many style options, and they are tried and true on fishing, tour, and ferry boats.
Clothing To Pack:
Weather in the rainforest can change at the drop of a hat – from 70 and sunny to 50 and rain in the space of a few hours. We recommend bringing layers – polypro or wool base layers, a fleece or wool sweater, guide pants or fleece pants and rain gear are a good starting point. A good pair of waterproof walking or hiking shoes are useful, as there are many miles of trail and beach to explore!
