What is it like working for Allen Marine?

When should I apply for the summer season.
The best time to start looking for summer jobs is in January. We will continue posting summer positions throughout the spring and summer. -
Do you offer training?
Yes! We offer 1-2 weeks paid training at the beginning of the season (depending on position). Captain and deckhands get extensive safety training. Naturalists will get out on tour and receive area-specific training. All other positions get position-specific training. -
I have submitted my application, now what?!
After you have submitted your online application, it will be reviewed by the recruiting team in a timely manner. If you meet the required qualifications, you will be contacted for an interview. -
When does the season start and end?
Our season begins in April and runs through the end of September/early October. -
What can I expect my first season to be like?
You’ve landed a dream job in Alaska, now what!? Well, get ready to have one of the best summers. The sun rises at approximately 4am and sets around 10pm. You will be putting in a lot of hours and hard work to ensure a positive experience for all our guests. We work hard, and we make sure to have fun, too! Allen Marine has parties and events throughout the season for our employees. We also offer free and reduced cost tours in each port. -
I get seasick – do you have any positions on shore?
Yes! We have many shore support positions in all our ports. Are you a whiz with spreadsheets? An organizational master? Thrive on problem solving? Do you love to drive? We have a spot for you in our “behind the scenes” positions. Check out our listings for Tour Representative, Administrative Assistant, Supply and Shuttle Driver or Operations Specialist. We are always looking for talented Mechanics and Vessel Oilers for those who are mechanically inclined. -
Do you offer housing?
Yes – we have limited employee housing available for a daily fee. All housing is bunk-style and includes standard amenities and utilities. Housing is first come, first serve.
