What fills up your cup?
I like to golf but, on my best day I’m average at best. I enjoy working on projects around the house. If walking on flat ground counts as hiking, then sure I like to hike with my dogs. I like to fish, mainly from the shore with my kids, especially during the silver salmon run in late summer. I really enjoy watching football, hanging out with friends, and playing video games with my kids.
How did you end up at Allen Marine?
I came up to Alaska from the Fort Worth, TX area and started with Allen Marine in Juneau back in April of ’09 as a seasonal deckhand. A buddy of mine who worked here the summer of ’08 convinced me to ditch my car mechanic job for the summer and come up and give deck handing a shot. It was one the best decisions I have ever made.
What do you like about working for Allen Marine?
I ended up working my way up to captain, mechanic, and then lead mechanic by 2018. Working with Allen Marine over all these years has given me the opportunity to significantly improve myself professionally and meet a lot of great people, some of whom I’ll be friends with for life. Working here allows me to have the best office view around. Being that this job is based in SE Alaska, I regularly get to see amazing wildlife and beautiful scenery, breathe clean air, and drink clean water, and avoid crazy down south traffic. 😊
