Alaska Green Certified

Sustainable tourism in Alaska involves travel to natural areas that contribute positively to local economies, respect the environment, and honor indigenous cultures, aligning with the preferences of contemporary visitors. Adventure Green Alaska (AGA) has been acknowledging and promoting exemplary tourism businesses in Alaska since 2009, recognizing those committed to economic, environmental, social, and cultural sustainability, and offering resources for businesses seeking AGA certification.

Alaska Green Certified

The Alaska Carbon Reduction Fund, operated by the Juneau non-profit Renewable Juneau, aims to decrease carbon emissions, deliver carbon reduction services, and support lower-income families in heating their homes. In a commitment to environmental sustainability, Allen Marine collaborates with the Alaska Carbon Reduction Fund, enabling guests to offset their carbon footprint by contributing $2 when making onboard galley purchases.

Alaska Green Certified

Whale SENSE is a voluntary program sponsored by NOAA and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, offered to commercial whale watching companies in the U.S. Atlantic and Alaska Regions. Developed in collaboration with the industry, the program acknowledges and educates whale watching companies dedicated to responsible practices. Allen Marine Tours adheres to all guidelines put forward by Whale SENSE.

Tourism Best Management Practices (TBMP) has been instrumental in minimizing the impact of tourism in Juneau by fostering cooperation among various stakeholders, including tour operators, cruise lines, transportation providers, merchants, and local authorities. Membership in TBMP is voluntary, and the program's success lies in its collaborative approach to preserving the qualities that make Juneau an exceptional place to live and visit. Allen Marine Tours adheres to all guidelines put forward including, but not limited to, operational standards, whale watching guidelines and more.

Alaska Green Certified

Juneau Composts collects and processes food scraps and yard debris to create finished compost, which is then sold to local gardeners. Allen Marine Tours partners with Juneau Compost by incorporating compostable plateware on all culinary excursions in Juneau. This eco-friendly initiative completes a responsible cycle, as the used compostable items are then handed over to Juneau Compost for further processing and environmental benefit.

uneau Greens focuses on providing year-round, fresh, pesticide-free hydroponic basil to local grocery stores as well as a variety of other greens to numerous restaurants and culinary programs throughout Juneau. Allen Marine Tours partners with Juneau Greens, showcasing their locally grown products in a range of dishes served at Orca Point
Lodge and during our Evening Whale Quest. This partnership not only offers a culinary experience with fresh,
locally, sourced ingredients but also fosters a connection between our visitors and providers dedicated to sustainable practices within our community.

AIANTA aims to support and empower Native American communities involved in tourism by offering technical
assistance, training, research, publications. Additionally, it seeks to advocate for the economic and cultural
significance of a thriving hospitality industry within the Native communities by engaging in conversations with
various stakeholders and promoting awareness of authentic Native destinations among travers and the media.
